Valeo Transmissions, Pt II: Transmissions and flywheels

Valeo Transmissions is famous for their clutches, but they have many flywheel and transmission parts, as well. Valeo makes both solid flywheels and dual-mass flywheels, as well as clutch master cylinders and clutch slave cylinders.

Valeo flywheels, in both OE style and lightweight aluminum performance flywheels, are available for new cars and collector cars. Where your car is equipped with a dual-mass flywheel, and you want to convert to a solid disk for heavy-duty use, a Valeo flywheel conversion kit can convert an OE dual-mass flywheel into a solid rotation type. Valeo solid flywheels are made for manual transmission and automatic transmission cars and trucks, and include domestic cars, as well as Japanese and European import cars.

Valeo dual mass flywheels (DMF) use two internal weights to smooth out driveline stresses between transmission and engine. By damping vibration at the flywheel itself, the ride is smoother, and it extends the life of your automatic transmission or manual transmission, meaning you won’t need a rebuilt transmission as soon. Repair is less likely as well. Easier shifting and longer rigid disc life sound cushy, but Valeo makes dual-mass flywheels for Z06 and LT1 Chevrolet Corvettes, for Ford F-series Diesel pickups and many Chevy and GMC trucks, including Duramax Diesels.

Valeo clutch slave cylinders and clutch master cylinders are original equipment quality or better in a compact design that eliminates clutch problems. Once again, Valeo makes them for domestic, European import cars and Japanese import cars, like Ford, GMC, Dodge, Chevrolet, Buick, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Jeep, Pontiac, Volkswagen, Volvo, BMW, Mitsubishi, Mercury, Oldsmobile, Mazda, Isuzu, Hyundai, Acura, Plymouth, Subaru, Suzuki, Saturn, Audi, Porsche and Saab.

Transmission problems, whether it’s an automatic or manual, aren’t actually always in the transmission. Sometimes, what seems like a slipping transmission is a problem with your clutch or flywheel. Perhaps you need to bleed your clutch, or maybe it’s time for a new clutch master or slave cylinder. You can use a rebuilt transmission with no worry, but when it comes to clutch hydraulics or flywheels, Valeo OE quality is the only way to go.
